Riu d’Art Street Fest 2025
A Celebration of Creativity in Riba-roja d’Ebre!
After a year of preparation, exchanges, and artistic exploration, the Riu d’Art Street Fest took place on 13th December, bringing together local, national, and international artists in a vibrant celebration of culture and creativity.
Throughout the year, the event has been shaped by artist residencies, which allowed participants to learn about the area, engage with local communities, and exchange ideas across borders. From heritage visits to social and cultural meetings, every moment built toward this culminating celebration of artistic collaboration.
The Lavadero hosted a stunning exhibition featuring works by UK photographers Leah Skuse, Sophie Payne, and Esme Wilkinson, each presenting their personal responses to Riba-roja d’Ebre.

Complementing the photography, local artist Adrià Cid unveiled a striking ceramic installation within the historic washhouse.

Outside, the wall next to the Lavadero became a 14.5m canvas for A La Sombra (Henry Knight and Ferran Orta), who created an impactful comic-strip-inspired mural drawing from childhood memories and the natural surroundings of the area.

Festival visitors also enjoyed a tour of the Riu d’Art Open Air Gallery, joined by special guests from CERE (Centre d’Estudis de la Ribera d’Ebre). Members of Riba Rocks presented a selection of contemporary artworks displayed on public and private building facades, highlighting the rich visual landscape of the town.

Artistic exploration continued with a visit to the studio of local illustrator Roser Gay, who shared works created in collaboration with visiting Riba Rocks resident artists and gave insight into her creative process.

The Street Fest concluded with an evening of video screenings, featuring four works by local, national, and international artists: Leila Amat Ortega, Marianna O’Reilly, Clare Osborne Carter, and Sarah Misselbrook, showcasing the diversity of contemporary artistic practice.

The Riu d’Art Street Fest was a true testament to a year of creativity, collaboration, and cultural exchange — a celebration that has firmly placed Riba-roja d’Ebre on the map as a hub for contemporary art.
