‘Som Figots’
Continuing their celebrated ‘tree series,’ the local school of art unveils their latest creation, crafted with passion and creativity in the present year. Titled ‘Som Figots,’ a phrase endearingly used by the inhabitants of Riba-roja meaning ‘we are figs,’ this artwork serves as a testament to the community’s pride and identity.
At its core, ‘Som Figots’ pays homage to the rich tapestry of life in Riba-roja, intricately weaving together elements of nature, history, and tradition. The use of stones sourced from the River Ebro serves as a poignant metaphor, each stone bearing the name of a local house from the barrio, symbolizing the enduring foundations of the community.
Adding a touch of whimsy and innocence, children from the locality have contributed their artistic flair by painting charming illustrations of animals and insects onto small pebbles, infusing the artwork with youthful energy and imagination.
Through their collaborative effort, the local school of art not only creates a visual masterpiece but also fosters a sense of belonging and unity among the residents of Riba-roja, reminding them that they are all interconnected, like the branches of a mighty tree rooted in their shared heritage.
